Game goal

Complete ten listening questions by matching each spoken English word to one of four written spellings.

Learning focus: Listening and sound-to-spelling. Completed answers feed the shared Word Factory learning-progress and weak-word system.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Listen to the automatic playback or tap the speaker to replay the word.
  2. Compare the four spellings and select the word you heard.
  3. A wrong choice becomes unavailable while the same question stays active.
  4. After a correct choice, press Next. Finish all ten questions before the three-heart mistake allowance is used.

Winning, mistakes and rating

Complete the level

Answer all ten words correctly. The three hearts are shared across the entire level.

Mistakes and failure

Each wrong choice removes one heart and 10 coins. Early stages replay the word after a mistake; later stages leave replay to the player.

Score and stars

Correct answers award 100 points. Three stars require at least nine first-choice answers; two require at least seven; a completed run below that receives one.

How the 1,000 levels become harder

Levels 1–1,000 are mapped across 30 gradual difficulty stages. Individual word length and vocabulary difficulty also follow the current level.

Level rangeWhat changes
Levels 1–100Shorter words play twice automatically and distractors are less similar.
Levels 101–500Words become longer, playback drops to once and spellings become closer.
Levels 501–800Similar beginnings and endings demand more careful sound discrimination.
Levels 801–1,000Longer words and the closest available distractors create the strongest test.

New-player tips

  • Replay while focusing separately on first and final sounds.
