Quick Start
- Gather resources available in the starting area.
- Build machines to automate mining and crafting.
- Keep resources moving to the production steps that consume them.
- Research technology to unlock more items.
- Ship the completed word to earn coins and advance toward the next map.
- Pass the meaning check so the word is recorded as mastered.
Game Objective
Your objective is to build an efficient word factory and unlock all five maps. Complete the current word with manufactured letter tiles, ship it for coins and improve the production network.
Starting a Factory
Begin with the resources and recipes the game makes available. Build only what your next recipe needs, then expand once the line is supplied. A small working line is more useful than many disconnected machines.
Producing Resources
Ink Extractors produce ink, Metal Drills mine construction material and Energy Cores power production. A Letter Press consumes two ink and one energy each time it prints a tile.
Building Words
The current order appears as letter slots. Produced letters enter storage, and required slots turn green when enough matching tiles are available. When every slot is ready, ship the word to consume those letters and receive coins and score.
Maps and Expansion
The browser game includes five factory maps with 240 unique words on each map. Foundations doubles manual collection, Conveyor City accelerates letter presses, Power Grid improves energy generation, Recycling Zone adds coin recovery, and Master Factory doubles rush bonuses and word scores.
Technology and Upgrades
Spend coins on Turbo Belts to increase automated output or Smart Sorting to make presses more likely to produce letters needed by the current order.
Surplus letters can be recycled into ink instead of accumulating indefinitely. On Map 4, recycling also returns coins.
Progression and Scoring
Every completed word is added to your progress. Finish 240 words to unlock the next map and complete all 1,200 orders to win the campaign. Longer orders pay more coins and score.
Shipping within two minutes earns a rush bonus. A correct meaning check increases your streak; a wrong answer adds the word to the review list. Eight achievements mark major production and learning milestones.
Beginner Tips
- Expand one dependable production chain at a time.
- Trace missing inputs backward through the line when output stops.
- Build enough ink and energy production to keep letter presses supplied.
- Buy Turbo Belts when the whole factory needs more throughput.
- Use Smart Sorting when random letters begin filling storage.
- Use the vocabulary journal to revisit definitions and words that caused mistakes.
Common Questions
Is Word Factory a spelling game?
It combines word orders with factory automation: the letters matter, but production planning drives progress.
How many maps and upgrades are there?
There are five unlockable maps and two repeatable research paths: Turbo Belts and Smart Sorting.
Does the game save my progress?
Yes. Progress is stored locally in the current browser, with up to five minutes of offline production calculated when you return. Settings also let you export or import a save file.
